TikTok announced Thursday that it is introducing new editing tools to give users greater leeway in terms of what they can do with their content. Clips, sounds, images, and text can now all be modified with the new tools. According to TikTok, the updates that were announced today are now available to users in the United States and across the majority of the rest of the world.
Users will have the ability to stack, trim, and split video clips with the new tools. The speed at which videos play can be changed as well. TikTok already makes it easy to edit and share videos, but these new features expand creators’ options for experimenting with their work. Sound editing options are also expanding on TikTok, with users now able to cut, trim, and customise the length of the audio they use in their videos. It is now possible to include aural flourishes. It’s not surprising that TikTok is expanding its audio editing features, given the central role sounds play in TikTok videos and their role as a catalyst for many trends.
TikTok is also facilitating the rearranging, moving, and adjusting of text, and time duration, for its users. Another innovation is the ability to stack multiple videos or images on top of one another. Finally, you can pan around and zoom in on specific frames within videos.
The new Photo Mode function allows users to publish image collections that cycle through one another automatically. The pictures can be accompanied by music, and the audience can swipe through them at their own pace. TikTok claims the new feature will allow its users to share professional-quality photos and videos within the app. The launch occurs as Instagram, which initially focused on photo sharing, is shifting its focus to video in order to compete with TikTok, which has frustrated some of its original users. Especially as photographers express their dissatisfaction with Instagram’s recent changes, TikTok’s new Photo Mode may appeal to users who want to share high-quality images on social media.
In a recent update, TikTok now allows users to include up to 2,200 characters in their post descriptions. According to the company, the expanded storage will allow authors to expand upon previously published works. With more room for words, authors may have more options for making their work search engine friendly. Since some younger users use TikTok as a search engine, the company is providing creators with more options to make their videos search engine friendly.
TikTok has been the app with the highest quarterly revenue for the past four quarters running, and the launch of the new features coincides with this. With approximately 914.4 million in consumer spending during the quarter, the TikTok global app and its Chinese version, known as Douyin, maintained the position of top-grossing non-game app across the App Store and Google Play combined.
